Soybean milling is the process of taking whole soybeans and processing them into a usable product: soybean meal. Processing soybeans typically involves de-hulling soybeans and then crushing or cracking them so they can be used for a wide range of applications. Although soybean milling is a common practice, not every milling method is optimal.

A two-roller mill has just one gap. You need to adjust the gap to find the right crush balance between husks, grits, and flour. For most homebrewers, two-roller mills are great tools for the job. They don't crush grain as fast as three-roller mills, but for a 5 or 10-gallon batch, it's only a few minutes different. Material

To get the same husk removal effect as a three roller grain mill, grain must be run through a two roller grain mill twice, once at a larger gap setting to remove the husk, and then at a small gap setting to crush the kernels. Two roller grain mills operated at a gap setting intended to crush the grain will shred the husks, which reduces the ...
At Patrón it takes about three hours to crush seven tons of agave with the tahona, and one hour to crush 14 tons of agave on the roller mill. Each method produces a distinct tequila with its own flavor characteristics — the roller mill produces tequila with fruity citrus notes, and from the tahona we get earthy, vegetal tequila.

Screw Mill (82.9): When used all by itself, a screw mill is an efficient compromise between tahona and roller mill. Some fibers are broken in the process, but not as much as the roller. Roller Mill (79.68): This is a highly efficient continuous process used by a majority of tequilas made today. As mentioned above, more methanol is created ...
The Barley Crusher is a dual roller malt mill, and the gap can be adjusted by turning a knob on the unit. It comes in two hopper sizes (7 lb and 15 lb), and I ended up purchasing the 7 lb model. Our crushing roller mill WSB is very appropriate for grain and other feed components. Process sequence. Two corrugated and counter-rotating rollers with different rotating speeds crush the respective product. Crushing is reached by a combination of shear stress, cutting and pressure. The corrugations of the roller can be adjusted individually.
A sieve test – in short – is an analysis of your milled grain to ensure you are producing a correct and consistent crush. Sieve tests, as the name suggests, uses a collection of stacked sieves with different sized holes to measure the amount of grain that is finely milled. The amount of finely milled grain you need is dependent on the type ...

My last brew I did on this system prior to crushing my own grain I got 56% brewhouse efficiency. This was on a 13lb grain bill and probably my worst efficiency ever. I brewed the exact same beer but this time using my own-crush with the factory-setting for the barley crusher. My efficiency on this batch was 65%.

Re: new grain mill - recommended crush size. You can go TIGHTER with wheat, the kernels are much SMALLER than barley. I sometimes use 0.025" for grists with a portion wheat, 0.032" for most grists, with a 2- roller MM2 PRO with 2" rollers. But I find anything in the 0.030" range is a good all purpose starting point.
However, because of this, I do not know what the measurement for the roller spacing is on the mill. The settings have 1 to 5, 1 being the coarsest setting, 5 being the finest. We did recently change the setting from a 3 to a 4 due to requests from our customers for a finer crush. Our mill doesn't have any calibrated setting numbers.
