On the other hand salts that are classified as water structure makers such as NaCl, stabilize the interfacial water structure at the salt/brine interface and the flotation of these salts with either the cationic or anionic 12C collector is not possible (Du and Miller, 2007, Du et al., 2007, Hancer et al., 2001, Ozdemir et al., 2006).

Although the flotation chemistry of KCl has received considerable attention, much less consideration has been given to MgCl 2 ·2H 2 O and KMgCl 3 ·6H 2 O and for this reason, these magnesium salts have been studied. Furthermore, not many bubble attachment time measurements have been made for soluble salt flotation systems.

Kainite, KMg(SO 4)Cl⋅2.75H 2 O, is one of the most common hydrated sulfate minerals, and it plays an important role as a source of potassium. However, its properties and structure have, to date, been insufficiently studied. In our present work, kainite was investigated using multiple techniques, including single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, …

Boron minerals exhibit an array of solubilities depending upon the cations in the lattice structure. A classification of semisoluble (colemanite and ulexite) and soluble salts (borax) may be appropriate as each group of minerals behaves differently in flotation. While borax has to be concentrated from its saturated brine, colemanite can be …

As seen in Fig. 1, Fig. 2, high flotation recovery of KCl crystals can be achieved using both cationic (dodecylamine hydrochloride) and anionic (sodium dodecylsulfate) collectors but NaCl crystals cannot be floated with either of these collectors. As mentioned above, in brines the double layer thickness is very thin at salt …

flotation chemical processing of carnallite ore from Upper Kama deposits are developed (Sabirov and Titkov, 1997). The introduction of the flotation of salts in saturated saline solutions KCl-NaCl-H 2 O, KCl-NaCl-MgCl 2-H 2 O, MgCl 2-KCl-NaCl-H 2 O significantly reduces the solution of cation collectors (alkylamines and alkylmorpholines).

A flotation study was performed for the soluble salts KNO3 and NH4C1 using oleic acid as the collector agent and various pH modifiers. Flotation was performed in one- and two-stage processes. The results of this study show that, as a collector agent, oleic acid enables flotation of NH4Cl and thus makes separation of these soluble salts possible.

Flotation of soluble salt minerals such as potash, trona and borax exhibits similarities because all are conducted in their brine solutions. The most commercially important boron minerals in the world are borax (Na2B4O7.10H2O), colemanite (Ca2B6O11.5H2O), ulexite (NaCaB5O9.8H2O), and kernite (Na2B4O7.4H2O). Most of …

The flotation response of soluble salts; halides, oxyanion salts and double salts has been explained (Hancer and Miller, 1999, Hancer and Miller, 2000; Hancer et al., 2001) based on the thermal stability of the salt and whether or not the salt acts as a water structure maker or a water structure breaker.
Flotation of double salts in complex brines. More significantly, the flotation responses for double salts are sensitive to the ion composition in the brine. Surface …
