The coking coal quality was assessed in terms of its structural characteristics, reaction and interaction mechanisms and bed characteristics. This work was expected to scientifically evaluate coal quality and provide theoretical guidance for the precise control of coking process. 2. Materials and methods2.1. Materials
The microbial community consisting of Pseudomonas stutzeri N2 and Rhodococcus qingshengii FF could effectively and simultaneously remove phenols and petroleum hydrocarbons, and these two strains possess great potential of being applied in aerobic biological treatment process of large-scale semi-coking wastewater.
This work was supported by the Scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation for young scientists and postgraduates, project SP-1275.2021.1 "Establishment of physico-chemical regularities, chemistry and mechanism of the process of semi-coking of low-grade solid fuels (oil shale and brown coal)".
Figure 1 shows the process of treating semi-coking wastewater. The pilot scale process was designed to handle 5–10 t/d of raw semi-coking wastewater. Methyl isobutyl ketone was used as the extractant, whereas the extractant to wastewater volume ratio was 1 to 8, respectively. In addition, the extraction time was 15 min.
Semi-coking is a typical coal chemical process broadly applied in Yulin region of Shaanxi Province, China. Utilizing the locally mined high quality, low metamorphic coals, semi-coke, coal tar, and coal gas are produced through medium and low temperature pyrolysis (Zhang et al., 2017a, 2017b).
Semi coke is the solid products, obtained from low-rank bituminous coal, lignite, or peat by carbonization at low temperature (500–750 °C) in a retort furnace. In general, semi coke is also a by-product or intermediate product of the conversion of …
Once the temperature of the coal charge exceeds the thermoplastic range, condensation, cross-linking, and repolymerization reactions take place. …
Semi-coking wastewater contains a rich source of toxic and refractory compounds. Three-dimensional electro-Fenton (3D/EF) process used CuFe2O4 as heterocatalyst and activated carbon (AC) as ...
Delayed coking is a thermal cracking process used in petroleum refineries to upgrade and convert petroleum residuum (bottoms from atmospheric and vacuum …
Based on utility, coals are classified into coking type and non-coking type. Further, coking coals are subdivided into four groups: prime coking coal, medium coking coal, semi-coking coal, and weakly coking coal. Prime coking coals when subjected to the carbonization process at high temperature produce coke of metallurgical standards.
Coke deposited in the reactor is removed through a cut with water under high pressure (about 250 bar). Delayed coking is a process that occurs in batch.
The technology of desulfurization of coke during coking is conceptually designed, in which the coking oven gas (COG) is blown into the coking chamber of the coke oven during the coking stage ...
In order to master the combustion kinetic characteristics of semi-coking dust in the early pyrolysis stage of lignite combustion explosion, a vacuum tube furnace was used to prepare semi-coking dust with different …
Coking is a refinery unit operation that upgrades material called bottoms from the atmospheric or vacuum distillation column into higher-value products and, as the name implies, produces petroleum coke—a coal-like material. Exports of petroleum coke accounted for about 19% of the nation's finished petroleum product exports through …
Coking coal is a naturally occurring sedimentary rock found within the Earth's crust. Categories of coking coal include hard coking coal, semi-hard coking-coal or semi-soft coking coal, and coal for pulverized coal for injection (PCI). These apply to the different quality grades of the coking coal, all of which are used in ironmaking.
Intensified phenols extraction and oil removal for industrial semi-coking wastewater: A novel economic pretreatment process design. The bottleneck of current …
1. Introduction. In recent years, water pollution attributed to coking wastewater has apparently become a serious problem globally, and this problem is more pronounced in China [1].The wastewater produced by the carbonization of coal at low (500 °C–600 ℃) and medium temperature (700 °C–800 ℃) is called semi-coking wastewater …
Considering the higher concentrations of COD, ammonia and toxic organic compounds in semi-coking wastewater, a physicochemical-biochemical combined …
Current semi-coking wastewater treatment process has low performance of pollutants removal and consumes a large amount of high-grade steams. It far exceeds the semi-coke plants' utilities supply ...
Delayed coking is a process that occurs in batch. In order to make a semi-continuous process, it is always employed as pairs of reactors, wherein one reactor is under reaction, the other is in the decoking step, and so on. The delayed coking process occurs in cycles that can vary from 14 to 24 hours. The main operational variables of the ...
Higher-priced coking coal is likely to affect the steel industry's transition to greener production methods as well as the value-based pricing of iron ore. Higher-priced coking coal increases the cost of producing steel via blast furnaces, both in absolute terms and relative to other routes. This typically leads to higher steel prices as raw ...
Semantic Scholar extracted view of "Treatment effects and genotoxicity relevance of the toxic organic pollutants in semi-coking wastewater by combined treatment process." ... GC/MS was used to investigate the organic pollutants removal in the activated sludge process for treating coking plant wastewater. A new C 18 mini column was applied for ...
Mesophase coking mechanism demonstrated that the semi-coke microcrystals became gradually ordered during plastic stage. Metaplast theory had been widely accepted, however, it was still difficult to identify the physical morphology and chemical composition of "metaplast". ... the coking process can be deduced by coupling …

Hard coking coals like anthracite have better coking properties than semi-soft coking coals, allowing them to garner a higher price. Australian HCC is regarded as the industry benchmark.
